Puebla travel guide: Best things to do in Puebla City

Narrowing down the best things to do in Puebla is quite a challenge, as there is simply so much to do and see. That said, there are a few options that stand out above the rest.

For starters, you have the Great Pyramid Of Cholula, which is the most “must-see” attraction in the region. A stunning piece of architecture, surrounded by ruins, murals, and smaller structures, it will allow you to step back in time and learn about the ancient history of this part of the world.

Next up we jump forward a few hundred years and move to the buildings of Centro Historico. These feature a different kind of history all of their own, displaying the religion and culture of the people since the city as we know it today was settled 500 years ago.

These are all great to see and explore in themselves but when you combine them with our previous destination, it paints an incredible picture of how the area has evolved throughout the ages.

Take the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest cuisines while you’re here. With its outstanding selection of gourmet restaurants, you can sample traditional Mexican cuisine right from the source, as well as their takes on some different international dishes as well.

As an added bonus, when you want to walk off your dinner, a stroll in the beautiful park will provide you with some of the most stunning views of the city, perfect for a photo-op or even if you just want to sit back and soak them in.

Puebla is a wonderful city that is ideal for anyone seeking to explore the history and culture of Mexico.

When is the best time to go to Puebla?

Selecting the best time to visit Puebla is a difficult question to answer, rather than giving you a single option.

For those looking for the warmest time to go, late March through to the end of June would be your best bet. While that would also overlap with the rainy season. That’s why better to travel to Puebla in the dry season between late October and the end of March.

Is Puebla an expensive city?

Excluding destinations like Cancun, Mexico is generally known as a location where prices for accommodation, entertainment, and supplies are usually quite reasonable and Puebla is no different.

On average, you will be able to spend a trip here enjoying all the attractions and amenities at around 80% cheaper than you would find yourself paying for comparable experiences in New York.

Is Puebla a safe city?

Safety is always a concern when traveling, particularly where Mexico is concerned. To that end, you may be pleasantly surprised to hear that Puebla is a relatively safe city.

You still want to be sensible and stay in the more populated areas where possible, but Puebla is generally one of the safest cities in Mexico and by a distance the safest when looking at cities of comparable size across the country.
